How to Record Your SlingBox™
If you've ever wanted to watch your Home TV from another location,
then you've probably heard of, or even own, a SlingBox™.
A SlingBox™ hooks to your TV, and rebroadcasts the video feed
over the Internet to you at another location. You can change channels,
and watch with decent quality. The only thing you can't do is record
that video on your PC, unless you own a copy of At-Large
Recorder.
Here's how to record your SlingBox™ using At-Large Recorder:
- Download
and install At-Large Recorder.
- Open SlingPlayer™, and have it playing a station.
- Open At-Large Recorder - it appears like this:
- Click Record. The New Recording dialog appears:
- Enter a name for the recording.
- Select Start Now to start recording right away, or Start
Later to schedule a recording.
- Enter a channel, duration, and optional start time.
- Click Record when you're done.
At-Large Recorder makes unprotected Windows Media Video (WMV) files,
which means you can watch them anywhere, even without an active internet
connection. It's actually kind of slick - it works by capturing the
bits and bytes of the video stream, and then reassembles them into a
watchable video. The result is that you get a perfect reproduction of
the original video with no loss of fidelity.
At-Large Recorder is
highly recommended. It costs $29.95, and is available
here. You can try a free demo before you purchase.
